My Booty!

Teeheehee ... uhhh booty as in taken goods, usually by force, but I didn't have to do any damage to our hosts today to go back to my hotel with these ...

Fresh off the line tortilla chips! I'm here in Denver and today we taped a segment for a future How'd That Get On My Plate? - Corn. I got in yesterday and from the moving and sleeping on my couch in the one room the air was working last week, my neck was done. So, I had a massage at the hotel and today, I can look over my right shoulder ... which helps when interviewing and poking around food processing plants. Can I write my massage off on my taxes? lol ... well, anyway I'm in biz and now thanks to my host Lil Richie at Raquelitas Tortillas here in Denver, I'm gonna have some fresh chips with my dinner tonight!! The orange has a teeny bit of bite ... made with chiles and the green is spinach, blue with blue corn - no coloring ... they are thinking of doing green chips infused with cilantro!!! YEAAAAAHMAAAAAAAN! Hey, btw ... ever make your own? No? it's super easy ... take out the mortar and pestle part of grinding the corn and just buy the corn tortillas at the grocery store. Use a knife and cut 'em in fours or sixes and fry em in 350 degree oil for a few minutes and voila! Tortilla chips! Sprinkle some salt, crack a beer and insert lime ...

Alright ... hope ya liked tonight's How'd That Get On My Plate? - Honey, next week is all about cocoa and chocolate! Don't forget the rerun of Sunday's Cooking for Real, Pizza Pizza airs this Wednesday at 130PMest! Hate peeling garlic? I'll give ya a shortcut during the show ... just sharing some tricks!

Tomorrow we head to a corn field on the outskirts of Denver and then later this week we'll be in Washington state again! If I see anything neat, I'll surely share :-). Thanks for checking in!

Nice finds, Sunny!

Tortilla chips - yup, except my butt won't fry 'em - I bake 'em with a sprinkling of cheese and sea salt. Gotta blame Giada for that idea.

I figure baking them might make them a tad more healthy. Cilantro tho?? Hmmm..

Can't believe we're already getting reruns on your new show. Next week though, that's MY kind of show. If I had that bag of chips, I'd have to bust out my bean dip recipe and do it up right. Man, Denver is a great place for cuisine, so many choices. If I had some whole tortillas, only one thing to do:ENCHILADAS!

I don't know if you'll be hittin' Arkansas on your filming tour, but if you do, stop by my blog and check out how this past weekend went for me in the Rock. Some valuable intel there, plus I can drop some serious knowledge on other great places in different parts of the natural state.

Hey, Sunny! Those tortilla chips sound delicious! I've gotta try making them someday! I live in Dover Plains, New York, which unfortunately doesn't have much of a variety of good food places.:( Any advice for someone just starting to learn how to cook?:0)

Sunny, it is almost as if you have left me in the dust, you are really working. LOL. Luckily, Time Warner has a service called ONDEMAND where shows like yours are categorized and archived for repeat watch. UGH, I need to catch up on the shows.

Hey - I'm so proud of you - really, I am. I'm studying your moves for a project I'm working on. But you're absolutely awesome. I just finished watching the show w/the ave J pizza and mommy's salad (no to the egg yolk though - lol - I'll take dijon any day). Let me just tell you, you moved through that show like you were really in your grove. I mean, at times, I didn't even know you were cooking. You were entertaining me w/your stories and funnies - good job. I LOVED the fact that you wiped your hands on your pants - lol! That's how real cooks do it! LOL

Just wanted to send you a little note to let you know that!

anonymous, yeah tortilla chips are the tops, just ate some tri colored ones today! my advice if you are a beginner is read the recipe all the way through before you start it and allow yourself to not be perfect. mistakes happen and sometimes great things arise from mistakes. relax and have fun ,,, many of my recipe on foodnetwork.com are rated "easy" give them a try!
