What my lunch looks like ...

Hey all! Been workin' hard this week to keep everything running while I tape new episodes of Cooking for Real. Home, work, online, life, etc. :-) ... So, here's a flick I took yesterday to show ya what my lunch looks like.

I head straight from the set to my green room. This time, I had the spoils of the show I'd just finished. Some protein, something green, taters and dessert! Before that, there was a quick video interview with people from the press, so I didn't have a full lunch hour. That meant some double timing, I answered some blog comments, wrote yesterday's "buffering" post, checked email, made some calls and watched some TV.

Then, it was back to work! Here's a flick of us getting ready to start the show.

In the morning when I get in, I write the intro and email it from the green room computer to the producers and they feed it into the teleprompter. After I'm done with the intro, I'm on my own to cook and talk and just have a good time sharing recipes and the stories behind them. This show was a show where I handled some requested recipes from comments here and comments I get when I meet people. Hope you like the shows when they air! I'm goin' to sleep, tomorrow is a long day!

BTW I love you set. I am always so amazed how they make a studio look like a wonderful kitchen or home.

I need a set decorator around my house because if you saw all the random things laying around, the tired color schemes, and the general uninspired 'design' you'd be crying ... or laughing ... or both.

Reading about your day makes me want to go to sleep, too! Not because it's boring either.

That's cool that you write your own intro. Do you always write it? What other things (other than your recipes) do you get to write?

ken, thanks for the detroit update!! i wonder how long 106npark will last now that trl is a wrap? go have some chili for me! the weather is changin!

houstonmacbro, uhhh you read my mind ... somehow i have to figure out how to get my set designer to hook up my crib, you know!?

nik snacks, all i write is the intro n recipes, they write the food descrips or the "menu read" cuz they are good at short descriptive stuff, but the writer in me knows soon they ask me to write that, which is real easy if given a template of length a come-hither descriptive words, yua know? but nothing else is scripted in the show, cuz things couldn't be scripted from the menu read you hear at the top of every show, i like to let it flow.
