The Verdict ... ???

Well, after I told you about my Pearly Mussel, I took a quick trip into the city for an appraisal. Seems as though a co-worker's mother had a family jeweler (how nice, eh?) and now, I had his address, phone number and an appointment for an appraisal. I'll make it short and sweet. Here's Jeffrey Liebross of Liebross Jewelry, Inc. taking a look at my lil nugget ...

The verdict? First, Jeffrey is a foodie! He watches the Cooking for Real and even catches How'd That Get On My Plate?! What a nice surprise. According to both Jeffrey and the lovely lady in the background (I didn't get her name, or I'm an idiot and forgot) ... My lil nugget is not a black pearl. He still offered to make an attachment and put it on a chain. I declined, but may do it in the future. Funny thing is, everyone that has seen it with an untrained eye, thinks it's a pearl ... second opinion? Eh, when I get time. For now, I'm in the midst of taping 13 new shows for Cooking for Real! Thanks for watching and for the support. I took some time in the kitchens to test recipes and have some flicks and stories to tell ... stick around.

Well, still all very exciting. If it's a pretty trinket, then by all means have it mounted. How fun it would be for all of us who blog with you, watching Cooking for Real sometime down the road, to see this single black pearly-looking-thingy dangling as a pendant on a chain.
:-D

Bummer :(

At least you got great blog fodder from the experience and met a viewer! :)

Better luck next time... if you want to go through that again. ;)

sorry to hear that Sunny
:-( I wonder what the heck it was??? Oh well, for what it counts... I can probably speak for alot of us on the blog and say even if it wasnt a black pearl, youre still our black pearl! (feel free to get nauseous after reading that corny-ness out loud LOL) But seriously, Good luck on your tapings... my videographer is STILL editing my pilot, the people that worked on my show are mostly students and that sucks cuz you have to work around their midterms :(

So what is it, then? Just a magic rock. Hope the taping is going well.

Well, while it may not be an actual pearl, it's still something that is a rememberance of your culinary adventures, no?

Can't wait for the flicks. I had to laugh - the other day I went to my fave team's spring training (Phillies of course). That night, on the Tivo - You're doing a cheesesteak! Talk about same wavelength (tho I'm sure yours were better than the ones we had at the park in Clearwater). And you namechecked Genos and Pats. Joey @ Genos would be thrilled. A gal has to know - did you ever try Jim's on South Street?

Dang! Girl, get a 2nd opinion! You never know. That baby may need a chain. :) No matter, you definitely found some sort of treasure in your food. Btw, can you get an audience for your show and invite us? Just saying...

Taking a look at my lil nugget sounds dirty.

Luckily, it's not.

It could still be cool jewelry though.

Okay...so inquiring minds want to know...if it is not a pearl then what did they say it was? :)

my new 30, thanks so much for watching! welcome to the blog!

lana, i think it will eventually get mounted. i'll wear it on a show ... maybe i'll do a mussels menu too :-)

mise en place, i know right? dunno if i wanna crunch down on something that should be creamy again, but i'll take a free black pearly something anyday teeheehee ...

eric, awwwww shux, i'm your black pearl? i'm that little irritable piece of debris that you cover with pearly layers to get me off your nerves??? how sweet :-P ... no really thanks.

jacob, lol yeah, a magic rock! now if i could only figure out it's powers ... thanks. taping is going well, shorter days means progress!

lys, yeah, i'm corny like that ... even if after the 2nd opinion it is still non-precious ... i'm hookin it to a chain ...

duodishes, i am ... as soon as i get time, i'll make another jeweler search, maybe a specialist in pearls. i dunno ... i like costume jewelry from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. so i don't have any jewel connects.

t2ed, i know, didn't think of that when i typed it ... hope no one else reads into it ... my apologies :-).

janet gray, the jeweler said it was just "matter or debris" from within the mussel, my thought was ... isn't that what a pearl is? debris that has been covered with protective layers by the mussel to alleviate irritation? i dunno ... i listen to the pros, but i'll get a 2nd op. and report back to you!

dtdub, it's not too bad of news, i coulda chipped my tooth a week before taping! what a smile that would've been, like the MAD Magazine dude teeheehee ...

I know I'm way late, but I just happened to catch the "mussels and chorizo" show on The Food Network. I am so making that for dinner tomorrow! Thanks for the idea. Hopefully we'll find a black pearl :)

OT- I thought it was Diana Ross who sang "I Want Muscles"......
