New Interview!

Hey there! I'm a bit under the weather from the New Orleans trip (I think it's from the airplane ... all that breathing lol) Anyway, I'm currently writing up a new blog to wrap up my Essence Music Festival experience, but in the meantime check out this new interview I did with Maureen Aladin from Destination Success.

Thanks Maureen! I had so much fun and it was great meeting you! Keep in touch!

Great interview. And I like that green shirt, too.

Also, I find it funny that your comment moderation word I have to fill in below is "binge."

Great interview Sunny! Loved the advice... I hear you on the persistence!! I am still going for it!! Eventhough I had to leave San Francisco, I am happy to take the year off to be a culinary gypsy. I just did a cooking demo at the Taste of Chicago and last month at the All Things Organic Expo.

This summer I am living and working on a farm, an hour and a half west of Chicago. It is an amazing experience. I still always wish we could have that phone chat that we started over a year ago.
Glad to see you are doing well, and happy to have you always share your insight :0)

Gosh GREAT interview!

You are so authentic, I'm sure that's why I love your show & your recipes so much!! I am definitely a FOODIE.

And I'm so glad that you don't hold out either on any tips and secrets. I LOVE your tips and things that you throw out during your show.

Much continued success to ya gal. You know those "people" you mentioned who sort of steer you sometimes in your life? Well I call those little God Stops. Those are the times that I look up, smile and say "was that you God?"

jacob, thanks ... people have said i look good in green, who knew? not me ... but if they say so, i'll wear it lol. you know me, fashion is not my strong point ... i have years of jeans and t-shirts for radio land to prove it.

alex, long time no see ... look, what you are doing is great! the cooking demos are such a challenge, i've only done a few and look forward to more. just keep pluggin along and make sure everyday is a step towards the goal and you'll be fine.

mary at my new 30, thanks. i watched it and thought ... i said that?! lol ... she made me really relaxed so i was able to just really be myself and answer her questions thoroughly. and i agree about the people i've run into ... they are sent from a higher place at just the right time, the key is to listen to them. i've listened to them all and sometimes they aren't even people ... just little signs to nudge me along the way. i am truly enjoying this and i can't do it without people watching and supporting. thanks so much for that! and rest assured i won't cheat ya on any recipes like my mom! teeheehee ...

Great interview Sunny - very candid and inspiring. Love the fact that you took a knife skills class pre-FN. That's one class that I'm thinking about taking after the move.

Any chance you'll be at NYFF?

Sunny Anderson said...

lys, thanks. i sure did take a knife skills course! i ran a catering company without it and don't know how! it really has given me faster prep and a bit more assuredness in the kitchen when it comes to blades. i always tell the story about how my mom caught a falling knife with the palm of her hand when i was like 6 years old. the memory of that blood and the knife sticking through her hand was enough to keep me from sharp knives for a long time, but i really wanted this dream. so i buckled and took the course. can't live without my 10"-wide now. you should take the class! it was like 500bux at i.c.e. and plenty of fun. i don't think i'm participating in the nyff, but i'll be in town. hit me up and we'll catch lunch!

cool interview with destination success. love your simple, open, candid advice. i am not really into food and definitely not into cooking but i am intrigued and will tune into your show. hope I can keep up and that you do give all the details for each recipe :-). continued success! mcdunamis from NY via Jamaica :-)

Sunny Anderson said...

mcdunamis, thanks so much for watching the 2part interview! she was such a great conversationalist! it's ok if you aren't into food, if you are into life ... you are like me :-). i wake up everyday very happy to be here and i'm not perfect, but i really am making the best of my years and trying to work my dreams at the same time. i miss jamaica so much, i've been several times and the last time was the best. i stayed in kingston and went to a huge reggae concert hosted by a coworker, we went out with a reggae artist for dinner and dancing and then the local un-touristy beach where we ate fried fish and festivals right on the sand under a hut and a great onion, scotch bonnet and vinegar sauce came with it as well. the best meal ever there .... i think that's why i haven't been back ... i've had the best there and don't want to mess with a good thing. have you tried footprints in brooklyn or negril here in nyc? very authentic and yummy!
