I Play Gal Friday for Guy, Friday ...

Hi there! Hope you had a great weekend! Thanks to everyone that caught me on The Today Show this past Friday. I had a great time and after that I headed down to Chelsea Market to shoot another show ... Guy's Big Bite! I don't want to give too much away and will leave it for the show, but of course being a guest, I was his gal-Friday or assistant in the kitchen. We also prepared one of my recipes and really just hung out, which isn't hard to do on his set. You've seen it right? There's a drum set, bumper pool table, pin-ball machine, flat-screen television and the list goes on. Here's a blurry (sorry) pic of me chillin' on his set ...
I noticed for the first time, I have the same chair/ottoman set at home that Guy has on set, so I really did make myself at home a bit. We really had a great time taping and get along well. He's been a cool dude since the beginning and he remains that way. Between acts I made sure to play every single game on set! I think the only thing I'd add would be a PS3 because I still haven't grown out of my video game years, will I ever? Here's a shot of Guy and I between acts ...
It was fun to tape together and I hope it's fun to watch! I'll give you a heads up when it's on the way. Until then ... an update on my visit Down Home with The Neelys, it's currently in the editing process! So, I'll let you know when that is scheduled as well. Take care and enjoy your Monday!

Sounds great! Saw most of the Neelys chefography the other day and learned a lot! The story behind Pat's bbq restaurant business venture was very inspiring. :-)

Hangin' on Guy's set, eh? Always have felt that's a pretty cool set, and he cranks out some great recipes on that show. He has a warmed olive, garlic & carrot side dish that's really amazing, and my kids LOVE when I make his spin on a Yakitori Chicken.

Met Guy half-a-dozen times now. Intense dude. Hope you had fun!

Can't wait to see the episode. I loved the chefography on him the other night. They need to do one on YOU!

Hi Sunny!!

It is so cool to find your blog! I love seeing the "behind the scene" shots of the Food Network! It is so great that a real Food Network star is part of the blogging world!

I can't wait to read more!

Thanks for stopping by again Sunny!

It's hard to believe that those are actually sets. I could pretty much live on Guy's set. Couch, guitar, and a kitchen is all I need.

Sunny, I've been reading your blog for a while and u keep stating u play videogames. This a bit off topic, but I would love to know what games u like to play and if u ever go online to play. Keep up the great work!

sean, no doubt, love your blog! and ita about guy's set ... i'd never get any work done if i had all those toys on set and it was hard tearing myself away from the bumper pool table ... it was my first time playing it!

mantipp, well i love the classics and have a coleco vision simulator on my desktop, but the current game i'm playing is tom clancy's rainbow six las vegas. i just got tired of call of duty (went online to play plenty, but loved it solo too) and i'm waiting on god of war 3 to come out (only reason i bought a ps3) ... how's that? and oocassionally i rock out on guitar hero, if i'm in the zone i kill motorhead on drums!!!

Hi Sunny, this is just a note to tell you that my cooking still generally s----. Try as I might the results continue to disappoint me. I do things in an unconventional way because: 1. I don't have my own place. I have to share the kitchen with my mother. Does that make a difference? You bet it does! With my own place I'd do it better because, well, just because! I don't use any of your recipes on Food Network, etc. It's always my own creations. Sooo, for me, Food Network, RR included, is just entertainment, nothing more. Now if I knew her, or you, etc. personally ~ as I should, I'd get to enjoy that great looking food! But don't expect me to make it for myself. It just won't happen. Lol, others yes, but not me. In the meantime, I'll keep trying, but oh my, the dishes I make!

Congrats Sunny!

As always I am finding new and exciting Brooklyn food spots. My newest find is Ines Bakery on 4th Avenue and 36th street. Very close to me in Sunset Park.
I always heard they serve great sandwiches so today I stopped in for lunch with a friend. I ordered the Milaneza de Pollo with all the fixings except avaocado (sadly avocados dont sit well in my tummy) and one fried egg my favorite sandwich topper.
I suggest you try it one day.

I look forward to seeing you on both shows and would love to come check out a taping of your show if possible??

Best,

Camille Cares

Don't tell me you're a closet tuner, ay? Or were you just posturing with the Turbo mag?(Yes, with all that was said, THIS is what I pick out. I be's funny like that)

Sunny, that's great. So often we viewers only see u guys as u are on tv. It's good to see u are a gamer. Rainbow Sixsos an excellent game. Play it on my PS3. Maybe I'll catch u on there sometime. (if u ever post ur gamertag). Anyway, back to my smoker. Got some beef chucks on there now.

Neelys cookbook, eh? I'll chk it out. Reviews are high on B&N.com! :-) Two culinary genres about which I'd like to learn more: BBQ'ing and Pizza making.

re: meeting Guy, unfortunately my experiences have been rather negative, which is too bad. More of a he-doesn't-like-me more than the other way around. Personality clash, maybe? I will say that he has been Incredibly, Awesomely cool to my daughter, tho. Really pumped her ego, and I totally give him 100% credit for doing that.

selenasking, lol ... ok, well take it easy on yourself. roasted chicken wasn't built in a day :-). not all your exploits will be perfect, but they will get you a bit more comfy in the kitchen and that's the first step. and not to bother you, but maybe give a recipe a try ... doesn't even have to be a recipe from me. but just see if given amounts, ingredients and instructions, if you can pull it together. i think freestylin is great, but it can get costly if you don't have a teeny bit of foundation. don't worry ... we've all made some doozies!

camille cares, omg, there was just a shooting in the park over there, hear about it? i've never gotten to the 30s, i do 45-97 and then 2-10 btwn 4 and 5th aves. gotta get beyond my boundaries and try the shop soon ... anyone topping things with eggs has a thumbs up from me! keep in touch and when you see me doing kitchen work for the next run of shows (i usually post it here), that's your cue ... ask me and i'll get you on the list to come by one day. easier to set up then, rather than now.

complaint dept. mgr., okay ... this is how i know we r good ... I WANTED someone to notice the mag!!!! it's a super old edition. i picked it up on purpose, but have no real gear head roots. only stuff i can say is my first car was a 68 vw bug, automatic ... yes ... automatic, but with a stick shift and no clutch ... crazy!! i fixed it myself and rolled with the muscle heads in high school. there's a place in san antonio where all the nice cars park on the weekends and everyone rides slow and then there was a turnaround on the highway that people use to start races ... good times. now ... well, i'm carless. i ride the train!!! i don't know a thing about engine sizes like i used to, makes n models and all ... but they also don't make cars like they used to ... do they? i am a chick that also drove a v8 dodge ram pick up ... in nyc and parallel parked it like butter oozing in a baked potato!! got sick of men asking me why i was driving my bf's truck!?!?!?? such judgement in a city of acceptance ... cute.

mike, i love gaming ... actually just went to game stop and traded in 3 games today and got 3 more and they owe me 5 bucks!! how's that work?? lol. i got rainbow6 vegas (did 2, might as well tackle the first one), the club, and army of two ... all these games are doing is biding time until god of war 3 comes out. i can't wait. i ask everytime i go to gamestop. i prepaid for it a year ago!! my gaming name is misshappy ... usually on during wknds.

lana, yeah, the cook book is nice too. totally feels like a biography of the relationship and the family. very nice. great 1st cook book of many, i'm sure. can't wait to get to work on mine ... for the rest, really? sorry your experience hasn't been the same as mine with him. i must say ... every one has an off day. one time in my radio days i had an off day and was really rude to someone and they held it for years until they met me again and confronted me about it, i said sorry and things were ok, but i felt bad knowing someone held that for so many years. i learned my lesson that day. when people want to meet you, it means you are doing a good job. so now, even if i'm having a cloudy day, i still try to put on the sunshine when out and about. i say all that to say ... don't hold it, realize he's human ... i'm human ... and bad days happen. at least your daughter came away smilin!

I could go on for HOURS on my VW/Porcshe roots. Autos were rare on those 36 HP beasts.

Peep you, cookin' in the kitchen AND the G-rage. By the way, let me know if ya got the vid and the pics.

complaint dept. mgr., yep ... i got crazy loks every time i gave a friend a ride. my dad trained me for weeeeeks on how to drive stick. he'd take me to a new development with no houses and then take me to the bottom of the steepest hill and tell me to get to the top lol .. by the time i got my special 'automatic' bug, well ... i was a pro. miss it so much :-( ... i drove around with a tool kit, fuel filters and my "how to fix a vw bug" book. good times man. got the vid and pics and starred them in my inbox ... gonna watch before the trip!

lauraliz, glad you found the blog! i'm here most days answering comments and i try to post at least once a week if not more, just depends on my activity. that jacket is either lucky brand or, actually i'm pretty sure it's lucky brand. i plan to interview my wardrobe stylist soon and post it here. she dresses other hosts on the network and i think her job is pretty neat. thanks for the support from the DMV :-)

reyna, thanks for watching and glad we have similar palates! hope you like the episode guy and i taped, we had plenty of fun and i can't wait to see it either. recipe book is on the way ... hope you like it when i comes out and if i get a chance to come to your area, you have to come up to me and say hi!
