Why The Long, Made-Up Face??

Well, this is Clark Vincent (hair and makeup artist) and me in my living room after he spent the better part of an hour putting make-up on my face for an interview I had today in the Food Network kitchens. Problem is, right when he was putting the laaaaaast stroke of lip gloss on me we got a text from work and found out the interview was cancelled! I was going to demo my technique for fried chicken and then saute some greens and give the details of a recipe on a future show. So for me, I was looking forward to work and that ever present "TV bite" at the end of the segment, which I usually turn into a meal once the cameras are done. One of the best parts about the job, is the eating. I say it so much; I eat, therefore I cook.

Well, Clark and I took the news of cancelled work with stride, after all we both now had a full day to play instead of work. So after we chatted a bit, he headed out to tackle the free day and myself, well, with no promise of fried chicken in my future and a made up face, I felt the need to not waste Clark's work and headed outside for a bite to eat. With a car already waiting to take me to 'work' I instead headed to one of my favorite places to eat and the place where I think the best slice of pizza is made ... Di Fara's. I used to live just 2 blocks away and ever since moving, it's the one thing I really miss. Funny thing is I was just telling you in the last post how I really miss old haunts when I move and seldom get to go back. To me, this was a really neat way to take life's hints and head on over to one of the places I was thinking about when I wrote that. Just yesterday! Imagine! Here are a few flicks ...
I'd just placed my order here. 1 regular pie with pepperoni and garlic, plus 2 plain regular slices. The plain regular slices were for the dude driving us. We talked about it on the way and he was a total slice-head. He tried to convince me of another place and I've been, but it just isn't my type. He even saw the recent press about them moving the prices up to $5 a slice, it was a neat trip for him as well. Everyone is happy when food is on the way! Anyway, that's his daughter in the background facing the camera. She told me of a video interview they recently did that talked about how she felt as the daughter of an immigrant that came here and found 'The American Dream'. I haven't found it yet, but when I do I'll link it here if you are into slices and great life stories. OK, here is my pie getting dressed by Dom.
These pictures look so familiar to me because I have so many from previous blogs and even personal collections I take because I really just love the entire Di Fara's experience and each pie is so unique. They are like pieces of art. Edible art. Here's my pie getting a final drizzle of olive oil ...
What a yummy pie! Hope this inspires you to take a trip back in time to a past culinary adventure ... 2 in one week is pretty good for me, wonder if I can keep up the pace?

foodnetworkfan, thanks! it's a new color and new wig that should show up in upcoming shows, i get them done a few times a year and just began using it on air the last couple of months or so. i think i'll stick with this one for a minute. btw, i haven't had the chance to thank you specifically for the forum on your site, thanks plenty. it made me feel like i was officially there :-). also, i tried to put my first para in the feed, but for some reason it either gives all, or a hyperlinked "more", my apologies if that stresses your readers out, i've noticed a couple of comments and feel bad about it. i have someone that logs all the ip info and host stat stuff for other things and they said it may be language i need to figure out. so i'm working on it ... in the meantime, thanks for the support!

Oh my goodness, that pie looks to die for! I'm salivating over here!!

Well, glad that y'all turned it around for everybody and got out, and got out to one of your favorite old haunts too!

And your makeup looks amazing. I'm a housewife (since Katrina) these days, so I rarely even put makeup on unless I am going somewhere special. If I went through the putting on makeup thing, I'd also definitely be finding someplace to go to!!

naturi beauty, i always try to make lemon confit outta lemons lol ...

mary, it was and still is ... 2 slices are waiting in my fridge for part two. i have a reheat strategy that makes it almost as good as the first time. i'll pass the make up love along to clark! he's done broadway shows and mag covers, a true pro! i know what you mean about make up, i have it and never wear it. the most i do on my own is mascara, powder and lip gloss. the powder i use is bare minerals, it's pretty good! fast and takes no time. sorry katrina hit you, my best male friend was down there and still remains trying to get his biz back up and running ... it's a hard time for people still. my good thoughts are with you.

I have really enjoyed having your forum on the site. I love it where there is a blog to feed so we can hear from the stars personally. It makes for a fun forum.

You will pick up on a lot of web how to's doing the blog. I learned how to set up all these sites teaching myself one step at a time. Before long you will be a pro. :)

foodnetworkfan, well i read it long before i was on the network and find it quite surreal to be on it now. it's a great one-stop shop for fn info. i enjoy the downloading of thoughts, it's why i loved radio so much because it combined that with music, now i'm combining it with another love and i'm truly enjoying it. thanks for being along for the ride and dream. as for the web how to's. i know a bit of html and i'm learning as i go.

complaint dept. mgr., teeheehee, thanks and thanks for nuthin! if u ever come to bklyn, and dom is open, i'll get you a slice!! until then ... drool :-P

mise en place, thanks! i'm a gal that likes all hair, so changing here and there is what i like to do, only phase i skipped was the jheri curl lol ...

selenasking, darnit! i missed it!!! i was in transit at the time and didn't even know it aired! i'll have to catch a rerun or request a tape. i had plenty of fun, hope you liked it!!

cheema, well, i can understand it. i've talked to his daughter many times and although she has the dna, she feels when she make a pie with his ingredients, it just doesn't taste the same. such a beautiful family story. i don't want to think about the end though, just want to enjoy him while he still serves the people...

mr. wilson, thanks for the love. my figure is my figure and i accepted it when biker shorts were in style in the 80s ... def a trend i skipped lol. thanks for watching!!! i appreciate your enthusiasm!
