Did I tell you I rep Brooklyn!!!???? Well, I do and the most asked question of the weekend was where I live or where I'm from. I like the second question because I get to talk about moving around growing up as an Army Brat. I wear the badge on my sleeve proudly and like to talk about it because there's plenty of bad that came with that good and I'm happy I adjusted to it.
That's me on the way to the Grand Tasting tent Saturday to meet and greet foodies in the Viva tent. I mentioned in the previous post that I forgot to take a picture of the set up because I was just having too much fun so ...
There it is ... my office on the beach for four days. See that woman's plate? That's from Paula Deen's tent! It's was fried fish that smelled sooooo good with a side salad. I was in a good neighborhood to have her next door, eh?! After I hung out at my tent ... I again made the mad dash to the Grand Tasting area so I could get a look at what was to offer and have a bite to eat. I stopped many places, but I grazed like a cow here ...
They were making teeny quesadilla discs and then what I was really into were the plantain chips. They were perfectly salty, crisp and they sliced them lengthwise so they were long and some were flat and a few fried curled up. So, it was a nice texture thing. It was from a place called ...
Right next to us Paula Deen was on stage, so I stopped in and watched for a minute...
After catching Paula and her hubby make the crowd roar with laughter I ran into the couple I call "The Cosby's 2010" ...
Just minutes after we took this picture they went on to a packed house!
Recognize this funny guy below?
Well, besides being a funny guy, he's also what appears to be a great chef ... I say that only because I watched him, but have never had his food. That being said, what I saw ... looked delicious. He's Fabio from Top Chef season 5. I thought he was really nice in person and I figured it would be that way from watching the show, but you never know. Nice guy. Ok, more pics later ....

tamilyn, i did have a blast! glad you caught the blogs you missed ... my autofeeder messes up sometimes too and i end up chasing down the information. stick around, more pics are on the way from the weekend!
SUNNY! Remember me? I'm the one who said I saw you in the Macey's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and you thought I meant from NYC, but I really saw you on TV from my couch out here in Ogden, UT?! Well, me and my hubby are finally coming to NYC for our first time ever (totally stoked out of our minds!), and I just have to ask you (an expert & foodie professional!) for any advice on where we should eat while we're there. I'm a little overwhelmed looking through all the guidebooks and online, so any help you could give would be much appreciated!
Hi Sunny,
Thank u for the reply. I must admit, I'm becoming addicted to your blog!!! It's nice to see you and other FN celebs like the Neelys...I just love them too! They seem so genuine. You mentioned that you like to talk about your travels as there was some bad along with the good. I can relate because my husband and I have decided to place our
8th grader back in private school cause it's just not working out in County any longer. He's a 2nd degree black belt and for the longest time we've engraved in him not to use his skills in school and it seems that he's always being tested; along with other issues. I hate for him to leave his friends but I see no way out. Can you offer your input on what it was like changing schools? Especially after you got to be a teenager. Hope to meet you someday Sweetheart. Both our boys are into music and the oldest one (21) thinks you are BEAUTIFUL and he's correct! He's determined that he'll meet you one day and have you as his personal chef. I told him you better bring the $$$ along with the noise. :)
Love,
Linda(B'Ham)
complaint dept. mgr., i'm not mad atcha ... just you know i can't post that comment lol. you probably aren't alone in your thinking, but i can tell you there are more on the other side, the person you spoke of has the #1 ratings among all the shows on a saturday, our most important day.
rich'n'rach, although my memory is bad, for some reason i don't forget a name on my blog ... mostly because you are important! of course i remember you! send me your email and i'll give you a list of my recommendations based on area, cuisine and style. there are a few, none super fancy though.
linda, glad you found the blog! as for your son. moving is hard ... moving because you got picked on is even harder. i'm a person that likes to stay and tough it out because i always feel better once i make it through. i say building those skills early on isn't a bad thing, i just recently had to deal with someone i'd consider an adult bully. i'm not leaving, they are going to have to accept me, you know? either that or just leave me alone lol. so, i just say allow him to do what he wants as far as extra curricular activities if you do change schools. not because you mention his current activities, but because it's the only control they can seem to have in a situation they can't control like being moved. kids have it good these days though, they can email to keep in touch, so if there are friends he'll miss make sure he knows they aren't far away. being the new person is good and bad. it brings jealousy for no reason other than you are new, but moving also brings new friends. so there really are plusses and minuses. i say just making sure the kids know they are special and can do anything with hard work is a good mantra. i got the "hard work pays off" talk alot. so even when in a new school or situation, when trouble came by to say hello, i shut the door and got to work. just having focus on a goal is enough to keep anyone out of trouble. tough decision mommy, i don't know how you do it, which is why no one should ever judge you. at least you are making decisions based on protecting your child. tell your older one i'm no chef, but i'm a private cook for my guy! :-)
