Buffering ...

Hey All! Well, I did plenty of work this past week and was ready to sum it all up with pics and stuff until I tried to turn on my trusty laptop this morning and got this ...
Yup, my Mac is on life support. It just blinks the question mark over and over and over. I checked it like a pot of boiling water for the better part of an hour this morning, just being optimistic ... then I snapped into reality. I had recipe deadlines due today for my next season of Cooking for Real (yaaaaaaay! thanks for watching!!!), but my Mac didn't care about deadlines lol. Needless to say I used some tissue to wipe away my pitiful tears and went to work on my desktop. Crazy thing is, my desktop was a mess! It wouldn't connect even though it said it had a connection, I mean I totally turned into an at-home IT today. Luckily all my recipes go into my notebooks first and I did have some stuff backed up, but not the things I just wrapped up yesterday like my finalized 13-episode pitch :-(. I had such a plan for today. I knew I was behind on blogging because last week was so busy for me so after sending in my work, I was going to "play" ... which for me means spending time over here sharing pictures and stories. With the computer meltdown and all I'm a bit setback. Gimme a day or so to visit the computer doctor, they say it'll take 3-5 days to fix and recover files. In the meantime, I'm getting my desktop set up for real work and I'll check in with some stories about last week as soon as I de-stress and put out my lil fire. It was a busy week though, I did the Today Show, celebrated a cookbook release with Spike Mendelsohn, moved my garden around, shot some videos with Lipton and some fellow New Yorkers, made a pretty pizza and began menu planning for the AC Food and Wine Festival party I'm throwing. It's called Sunset, Sliders and Spirits on the rooftop pool at Caesar's. (click on the link for tickets, the event title is wrong on ticketmaster, but it's for the right event) BTW, speaking with the event planner, I found out it's pretty intimate, so get them early if you plan on being in AC for the fest. I'd love to meet ya and eat with ya!

OK, gimme a few tech days and I'll be back in shape ...

Just start planning now for the Memphis Rib Fest next year.

I'm finally in town and ready to throw down!

Unfortunately, nowhere close to AC. Thank goodness. Hee.

Computers! Gotta love 'em till that let you down. In my opinion, they don't make PCs like they used to either. I used to have one computer for years - now they seem to break down every couple of years, but a Mac! I am speechless. Hope they are able to recover everything for ya and get it back in shape quickly!

Wish I could be in AC!!

sorry to hear about your computer troubles Sunny :( technology is awesome, but it can be the pits at times, I hope everything works out.

I'm excited to hear that you're going to be doing something at AC. I live about 30 mins away so I'm going to try and do my best to come, I'd love to meet you in person! (I hope that didn't sound stalkerish lol) Maybe I'll try to tag along with Chef Aaron if he goes :)

By the way, I LOVE reading your blog, but why aren't you on Facebook or Twitter? And what's going on with your website? Just curious.

Take care!

Hey, Sunny, how's the MacBook cooming along? You'll have to pardon me, I'm a "geek"...LOL.

That's a disk failure, Sunny. Harddrive replacement time. Hope you've got a full backup! Luckily its not that hard to do this stuff.

Hi Sunny! So sorry to hear about your computer problems. I so feel your pain because I had to take my computer to doctor as well. Something is wrong with my hard drive and my left click key. The geek squad told me that it will take three weeks to fix it. I have killed every computer that I have owned so I had to buy me a nwtbook because I can't be without a computer for that long due to the fact that I'm trying with a passion to finish my dissertation. Thank God I didn't loose any work because I backed up all my files due to previous experiences. I hope the computer guy was able to save all your hard work.

When my I-Pod died for good a few weeks ago I tried replacing the battery and finally gave up on it. I was so sad I nearly had a funeral for that darn thing.. Word of advice. Always use a portable harddrive to backup stuff you love :( I hope all is well with you otherwise, Sunny.
