I Stink, Therefore I Am ...

... in Gilroy!!! Here's a pic of just 40 of the some 8000 acres of garlic Christopher Ranch owns in Cali. The field hands are out here at 5AM pulling up bulbs!

So, you 'd think it stinks here, but it doesn't ... and lemme first say that I LOVE GARLIC. I actually feel like if my dude didn't, we couldn't date. Like really ... I'm cooking for two, no way I'm living without garlic. No Way. My guy is actually as enthusiastic about it as I am, so it works. Anyway, just so you don't think the word stink is detracting, I love the smell. Now, the cool thing today was going in a processing plant where they take the skins off and sort them for whole or minced. The fumes had every one's eyes on the crew watering, except mine. I'm like ... i crush, mince, chop and eat these things whole almost every day! No tears for me ... call me Johnson&Johnson!! I just got back in the hotel room and as I was hanging my clothes I wore today, I could smell the garlic!!! Yummy!!! Just in case you caught that, I'm hanging stinky garlicky clothes that I wore today, so I can wear them again tomorrow ... that's all for continuity. Even though we film in different cities on different days I will always have the same outfit throughout an episode. Do you ever pay attention to that? I don't really, but I get it, probably a subconscious thing. So, I usually bib-up at lunch so I don't mess up my top. Then, sometimes between road trips I take the television clothes to the cleaner. Sometimes, I have doubles of television outfits, but those get messy too ... All I know is, I don't mind sweating all day and getting back into the same clothes tomorrow ... they smell like garlic!! We leave Wednesday, the day the Garlic Fest starts arrrrgh! It's ok, I plan to get in some quality garlic time before then.

You know what?!?! I certainly noticed that last night when I was watching the show about eggs. I was thinking how did you get from making cookie dough and donuts and you're wearing the same thing.

You know what else I noticed - is that how sometimes you'll talk about certain things but they never show you - but they make it seem like you were there. Like at the Tasty Cakes factory. I never saw you in the actual factory. I heard your voice-over, but I never saw you...yea, yall thought yall could throw that past us.

Oh yea, you know what else I noticed too? You actually said the word "yall" when you were cooking the tex-mex meal. I was like, "Yup, she said the word 'yall' - she ain't from NYC" LOL. NYC-ers would cringe each time I say "yall" or "pop" or "gym shoe" LOL

dtdub, yeah it's like that on all travel or multiple locations shows on many channels ... they call it "continuity", cool with me :-) ... and you are so right, in order for me to be at every factory, costs would be high on the production and scheduling would be crazy. things are happening in my schedule i can't control due to other obligations for the network. so, i end up being present for about 75% of the stories. Sometimes you don't see me and I'm there and sometimes, I'm not. And yeah, the "y'all" thing has stuck with me ... I gained "pop" in detroit and lost it when i moved to nyc, and yes ... it's sneakers, but i get killed when i say "tennis shoe" lol!!!

Hi Sunny. I work in Watsonville, and picked up the newspaper this morning to see you on the front page, above the fold even, about your visit to Driscoll's. Nice story. I hope you got to see some sun. It's been pretty foggy and cold this week. Typical summer.

With AT&T U-Verse I'm set to catch Every show,I work the night shift
So I can't really catch your show in Real Time.
I know asking for Conch Fritters is a little expensive for a lot of people but I wanted to see the sea snail being prepared from shell to plate-If that is not too disgusting for T.V. LOL

rayinhouston, for me, no food or process is gross, but i'm sure someone could find plenty yucky about how food gets to our plate, it would be neat in the future to feature food with parents, but for now ... plants and the product of animals it is!! i'm lovin your u-verse! thanks for holdin me down ...
