Ein Bier Bitte!

Look at all that beer!!! Cerveza!!! Bier!!! This shot is from the back loading dock of Left Hand Brewery in Colorado and my eyes popped out of my head when I saw it. Growing up in Germany for a few years really introduced me to beer. While my family was stationed there in the military though, I was too young to drink it, but my brother wasn't and of course neither were my parents. So, imagine me not understanding why every time we went to a German restaurant or saaaay Oktoberfest, my parents would turn into loud and obnoxious people along with my brother after drinking plenty of beer?? I never understood it, all the laughing and loud talking lol. I wasn't even that young, just didn't understand how a drink did that to people. Anyway ... boy, did I really dislike the idea of beer back then because it was something I couldn't try and didn't understand. Thing is, it was always around after Germany. My parents would make it at home and they had a little keg fridge where they had it on tap all the time and still do to this day. Because of that, I was privy to plenty of beer talk and got to try many different beers as I matured. My parents would always manage to find a local distributor of international beers by the keg no matter where the military moved us so, like food ... beer was a big part of the landscape growing up for me. When the producers said one segment of the wheat-themed How'd That Get On My Plate? would be about wheat beer ... I WAS ECSTATIC!!! Here I am excited after looking deep into a mixture of wort and hops and such ....

Here's Mark and the guys on the packing line ... I impressed them all with my first-day-four-bottle-fister packing skills ...

And these next three, well ... lunch all started with 2 taste tests cuz I was done before the crew, I like to try and eat with everyone if I get wrapped up early, so this day I held on with a few sips ... that's a dunkel or dark beer on the left and a pilsner on the right.

Then, the crew took a break, insert chicken salad sandwich ... and some more beer ...

Before it was over, I'd had my fill ... and didn't even have the slightest buzz in the mile-high city's air ... that came at the end of the day :-) (uhhhh sorry you have to see how I tore apart the sandwich, it was dry ... and I eat pickles like melons, just taking the flesh ... the skin is weird to me sometimes)

Take care and happy Monday! I'm in Rochester and North Carolina this week!

Hey! You're gonna be in NC this week! Wow! You'll be in my neck of the woods! If you need any tips on places to eat, I'm your girl! I know this state upside down and inside out.

Beer is my favorite drink next to water. I believe beer is going to be the new wine. Beer dinners are going to be popping up all over the place.

That first photo instantly reminded me of a party that got busted up in Fayetteville, AR at U of A. Funny thing was, cops only got a part of the stash...yeah, the party was that big. Of course, those were the days that me and my liver weren't on speaking terms.

I hate a dry sandwich too. I'm so not a beer person though. Maybe I've had the wrong kind? Who knows. Can't wait to see the show though - if you're in it - I'm all over it.

LOL, I was watching your show last night with some friends (I have DVR) and someone said something about something you were making - I defended you better than Cochran did w/OJ! I'm like 'don't mess with sunny.'

But yea, my point is that I can't wait to see the next show - lol.

dtdub, thanks for defending me, but remember there's something for everyone and if i'm not doing it for one of your friends, well ... food network has many choices. that's what i like about it, feels just like radio ... don't like me? that's cool ... just wait a minute and another host will be on. :-) ... and dry sandwiches should be against the law
