Chefs Vs. City wrap up

So ... we lost! Chefs Vs. City was fun and fear I may sound like a reality show contestant cliche, so I won't bore you with the "that's not how it went" stories, but suffice it to say ... I totally get what the reality show contestants are talking about. Editing can be interesting! Okay, here are some photos I couldn't share before ...
That's Aaron and Chris diving (pun) into the first challenge at Miami's Casa Blanca Seafood Bar & Grill. The way this was taped, If we were a few seconds behind but the camera's had to stop to reset, we had to wait to begin based on some one timing the events. Very confusing because we could never tell who was keeping time, but that's neither here nor there. The funny thing is right after we finished this task and I wiped my fishy hands on the owner's face, I rounded the corner to exit the shop and proceeded to slip and fall in a very funny way. Instant karma and it was hilarious. It didn't make it because the camera's didn't get a perfect shot, but I still get a teeny giggle thinking about it. I felt much better later when Aaron fell on the goat challenge teeheehee. I feel bad he was the only one caught on camera falling down though ... so I'm owning up to it! Here we are at the end ...
We'd just stepped off the elevator to the rooftop of the hotel and right ahead of us in a narrow pathway were the guys. We had such a good time even though it was basically a day of running, driving and frenzied competition. Those guys work hard!!! Catch more episodes on Sunday night's ... Competition Night @ 9PM Est!

So real quick, just yesterday I stopped by Food Network for some meetings and ran into a freelance editor that works on Cooking for Real. We'd never met before and we chatted quickly before I headed into a meeting. I told him how neat it was to watch a finished show knowing what went into it and how I delight in the simple things like hearing a music bed drop in or seeing a really pretty shot of my food cooking. I really like all the parts of putting together a show, which is why I try to share as much as I can here. Jeff said he'd been so into editing the show, that many nights he went home and he and his wife were inspired by what he saw. That's what it's all about! I was just so happy and really appreciated the compliment. It deserves some return in love, so I say to Jeff and anyone else that watches Cooking for Real and gets the foodie tickle, thank you so much. It's really neat to hear the stories and it's nice that you would allow me in your homes in a foodie way. I truly don't take it for granted. Jeff mentioned he had a picture of an inspired meal and I asked him to email it ...
Looks gooood!!! Looks like my I Want Mussels episode ... and now, looking at that picture ... I do want some mussels! I can't have them in the near future though because today I shoot 2 segments for Best Thing I Ever Ate. I can't tell you where I'm going, but one place is in Queens and the other is in Brooklyn. I'd also like to show you what I'm wearing to one of the locations ...
Yes ... those are adult onesies teeheehee. I don't know how I got into this mess, but I love it! They just came in the mail the other day and I couldn't wait to try them on before the shoot. I'll be sure to let you know when the episode runs and I'll take pics tomorrow if any thing seems interesting. Alright ... take care!

Hi Sweetie,
You look so comfy! :)
Sorry things didn't work out on Chefs v. City. You could have won by yourself though, if you know what I mean...not hating or anything but you had a lot to deal with in your partnership. :) Hope all is well and can't wait to catch the show this Saturday. Have a wonderful weekend!

Love,
Linda(B'Ham)

Sunny,

I really enjoyed watching Chefs Vs City. I hated to see you lose, i was definitely rooting for yall. I am from down south as you know. My grandmothers just kills me when she tells me I am no city slicker, I am a country boi...lol. I watch all your shows on DVR, and I am not following Saundriah when she says you mispronounced certain southern dishes. I don't remember anything you said that made my ears hurt. Everyone definitely has a right to their opinion. I think you do a great job. One of the things I luv most by watching your show and reading your blog is when you start dropping names of burger and chicken joints from down south that I am familair with, ie Steak N Shake, Sonic, Bojangles, and my all time fav..I am right there with you Girrll. I luv me some chicken from Popeyes. Churches Fried chicken is good as well, they are usually located in the hood. But everyone goes there still. I was shocked when I went to Puerto Rico and ran across a Churches Fried Chicken. I walked there everyday from my hotel is Isla Verde to get my 3 piece dark. I can't wait to see your Puerto Rico show. Thanks for cooking and keeping it Real.

Sorry about the C v. C loss, now THAT really sounded like a mess! Glad you didn't hurt yourself.

linda, those onesies are super comfy, i have never worn one and when i slipped it on, i immediately thought about bringin them on vacation in the winter!! i love them! about chefs vs. city ... i'm ok with losing because i just really wanted to do a show like that. i watched amazing race in past seasons and it looked pretty fun. my experience was fun and also educational. i totally feel bad for misjudging reality tv people. there are some clever ways people can edit to make a story line fit what they want. in the end though, personality is what it is, actions ... with enough tape, can be fake and manufactured. no biggie. i gotta tell ya, i really had a great time and even went back to one of the restaurants for my bday a coupla weeks back.

soapdish, are you serious? are you gonna just hit me anonymously forever?? everyone that reads the comments, this is my high school crush and good friend, 'soapdish'. i gave him that nickname in high school and actually i can't even believe you remembered it! you know you were my crush and you also know you were my friend! send me your email silly! we have catchin up to do!!! hope you've been well.

kase, hey! don't feel bad about me losing ... i really had a good time. i feel a victory every time i scratch off one thing on the list and i did just that. i'd watched shows like this wanting to do them and i got to, so i'm happy. i didn't lose money or anything, just face :-). not so bad. and i am so glad you don't care about how i pronounce stuff. there are just some long vowels that don't happen in certain areas and unless you leave your own area to hear it, you think everyone sounds crazy! accents are pretty neat if you ask me, they are in all languages. northern germans don't sound like souther germans. just like americans. pretty neat. and about your chicken choices ... i go with the 2 pc dark cuz 3 is just overkill for me. and popeyes' sides are craaazy! no matter how much heartburn i get from the red beans and rice, i still order them. something in the ingredients causes me problems, but i don't care. and as for churches, i haven't had it since the early 90s in san antonio, tx. on the mlk day march, the route would pass by a churches and i'd always stop in for a pit stop lunch lol. pretty good. have you ever had pollo tropical?

mary, teeheehee i agree and so does my bff, i'm a mess! i had to explain myself to everyone yesterday about why i was wearing a onesie in public ... too funny. i didn't hurt myself on c v c, but i did hurt myself just a week later shooting another challenging competition show. i haven't blogged about it yet because it happened right before i taped this season and right after c v c, so i had no time to share. i have pictures though and will probably post them close to the air date of the show ... i'm sure you can guess what it is ... ;-)
