When It Rains ...

Hey, do they still have that little girl on the side of the salt canister walkin' in the rain? I've done kosher salt for so long, I dunno. Anyway, this is just a snapshot of our weather here in NYC. Well, Brooklyn to be exact.
It was raining so hard this morning while I was out getting the paper that I had to take a shot. Water was up to my calf at one point. My super duper umbrella from the last rain back-winded on me as I was taking this flick and then I thought to myself, I'm stupid, trying to get a photo and now I'm soaked. I headed home and got to work on recipes, so much so ... I'm just realizing I forgot to read the paper. So now, I do my day in reverse ... shall I have a tea or coffee? I'm thinking about a mulled cider for dinner, with some rum and a swirl of whip cream. Stay warm and stick around I think I have some schedules for upcoming holiday shows if you are currently planning your menus. I'm having Thanksgiving at my place this year so I'm in the thick of it as well....

The mulled cider idea sounds good. I heard you guys were getting pelted up there with the weather. I don't think I'm going to be looking forward to the cold days ahead.

OMG ... I feel spoiled down here in Houston. It turned cold last night (41 degrees) but today was gorgeous with a high of about 72 or so.

Sorry ... didn't mean to rub it in.

No cold weather or rain out here in Cali, but I feel like I'm missing out on the fun of the Fall! Looking forward to your holiday recipes.

houstonmacbro, all i remember from visiting houston back in the day is rain and heat lol, texas is good for the hot day, cold night right?

dtdub, you know?

ken, you are crazy, had no idea toni was a foodie! she has all those kids, so hopefully she's raising foodies too

sharon, pretty pic! i know exactly what you mean, in my 6 mos in cali, all i could think is ... can we get some change?? at least when it gets sunny here, we feel we've earned it from a rough winter, you know? but there is something to be said for doing summer activities in the dead of winter ....

It has been fairly warm and nice here in the Bay Area up until today. Winds have started so all the leaves are blowing off the trees (which makes for a nice view out my work window). It's cool and should start sprinkling tonight. My husband already mentioned lighting a fire and having some cocoa tonight!

What is it about "getting the photo" that is SO compelling? I must admit, I do that ALL the time, I'm a sucker for it, there's just something so validating about it.

By the way, did you do your day in reverse before or after the rum cozy? Just askin'.

mrs., ahhhh the bay area! took a vaca there once and when i lived in cali i drove up the highway from l.a. to see a concert in the bay area. it's the one that borders the ocean, beautiful drive in the early evening. it's a cool hubby that wants to begin winter snuggles ;-). me and my dude did cocoa last night and i added e&j and extra marshmallows. he made cute little toasted sandwiches, pretty yummy night cap.

complaint dept. mgr., i know, i like to get the flick when i can, but sometimes i look like an idiot. the worst was sitting in a classy restaurant taking a pic of my plate, it can look very uhhhhh how do i say? i dunno, but i had an ex that would get embarrassed when i did it, i am so glad he is history lol cuz i don't care who is lookin, if i want a pic of dinner, i'm gettin it! as for the other, the drink ended up being at the end of the day and i fell asleep, so i guess i did go in reverse ... i think it was brandy that night, i made some chicken with it that day. btw, how do you feel about egg noodles?

I went to a very nice place in Little Rock called Sony Williams' Steak Room(HIGHLY recommend), I did the photo thing there, it was just TOO nice to miss. I believe the word you are searching for when it comes to this kind of behavior like you and me is "tourist". I don't care if I look like a tourist or not, it just means I(and you) have a passion for food that hits us just right and we need to seize the moment.

Sounds like you and the chicken got sauced, nice. Egg noodles, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. That answer your question? Sounds like you got somshin' for me, all ears...or eyes.

complaint dept. mgr., see, i am not the only one that will snap a pic in a nice restaurant ... lemme tell you it would start fights with my ex lol. he was always excited, but felt too cool to let the world know, that a mess. i could care less what the world thinks, i'm taking that flick! you have a great eating profile, travel for work or military like i was? and as for the egg noodles, i keep em around and maybe use once a year. just did and only on the second day of a meal and think i may actually add it to a recipe, just wondering where u were on it. when i brought it up to my culinary producer i said it kinda like egg noodles were trashy lol ... but i thought many people would like a fast addition to a one pot meal and egg noodles really do the trick. thanks for the response ... egg noodles in, with a big disclaimer lol ....
