Catch Best Thing I Ever Ate Tonight!

Hey there, just a quick program note. Tonight's episode of Best Thing I Ever Ate is all about totally unexpected food finds. It features selections from me, Michael Symon, Chris Cosentino and Alton Brown as well!! My find is sweet and a total guilty pleasure. It's an unexpected find because well ... I guess you have to catch the show for that or someone at the production company will call foul because I gave up the goods. I actually tape more episodes of the show next week and I'll do my best to get some behind the scenes deets ... ok ...

my sweet hubby is now obsessed with getting a "cod save the queen" shirt from Asalt & Battery....

and wanting the fried snickers, too -- thanks a LOT!

A fried candy bar! Unbelievable :-) I can only imagine how great it tastes. The next time I'm in NYC I am going to have one.

BTW - I found your blog yesterday while doing an Internet search to find out what type of refrigerator you have on the show. Hubbie asked me what kind of refrigerator do I want in our new house and I said the one on Cooking for Real!

Love your show.

Please let me know if you will be doing any demos in the DC/MD/VA area.

Whutz happenin', Ms. Anderson?! I'm from S.C. I just wanted to say thank you for opening my eyes to the world of cooking! I was flipping through the channels the other day and came across your show, and I just fell in love with it! I know how to cook, but until I saw your show, I was at a dead end as to whut I wanted to do with my life. I am currently in the process of enrolling in culinary school, and I just wanted to thank you, because you played a part in my decision. I also look forward to reading your blogs!

studio.delucca, was that t-shirt in the segment? all i could see was the mars bar, that caramel dripping had me mesmerized. totally wish i had that view when i taped it! ok, after you fry the snickers, try a reese's cup. a total problem!!

miss twists, welcome to the blog!! and yes, fried candy bar ... too good to be true for a fish and chips expedition! you totally have to have one when you return! ok, let's talk fridge ... a couple of things. it's a sub zero. the glass is clear from the factory, but the crew put on store-bought frosted window liners. basically so it would look nice and things inside the fridge wouldn't be the focal point. ok, now the inside light staying on while the door is closed is also a crew thing and not a factory thing. they tried to keep the light on by covering the sensor that detects when the door is open, but the sub zero is so smart that the same sensor also regulates the temperature control while the door is open, so covering the sensor wasn't the answer. so they installed florescent lights on the back wall of each shelf and then covered them with colored film to give off a nice glow. phew ... that's it. :-). all that being said, you can do the alterations at home. the film you can find online or at home depot and the lights there as well. they way the crew hooked it up, the light cord exits through the joint in the door so it's invisible. hope this helps! thanks so much for the support and i'm so glad you found the blog! i'll be sure to post the next time i'm headed to the DMV :-)!

Chris, we have something in common like bobby and whitney! well, not so much, but i'm partly from S.C. too. i'm so happy you are following your dreams. just work every day toward them and believe. i always say a bad day chasing my dream is better than a bad day not chasing it. congrats on beginning the chase! that's half the battle. thanks for the support! glad you found the blog. nuthin but happy foodies over here ...

glamah16, ;-) ... my size 12's love to see me branch into sweets too lol. hope you like the show when it airs and get inspired to either eat a whole cake or hit the treadmill lol, only so i won't be alone because i'm sure i'll be in that very struggle after watching the debut. ever feel your hands are lethal because they can cook? how can i stop them from baking? teeheehee.

Hi Sunny,

I just want to say that I am so proud of you. I am a beginning cook and have learned a lot...but I have a long way to go. Can you post any tips for beginners other than the general "practice makes perfect" advice, LOL! I read your story about "breaking" into food television and it was so inspiring. I am a writer and I also want to host a TV show one day (in The View format or Regis and Kelly).

This has gotten long, but I luv your show and can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Please make sure to post beforehand if you are coming to Houston anytime!!!!

miss twists, no prob! wanted to make sure you didn't call foul when you went through the catalogues looking. it's a total one day project to get the fridge to resemble mine though, if you get your wish ;-), let me know and i'll get my crew to walk you through the changes, especially the lights. they are a nice bunch of guys.

linda, yeah, the fried candy bar is baaaad, but good. you do situps, i drink a gallon of water lol. same thing is happening ... guilt! lol. love it!

danielle, welcome to the blog. i guess my best advice will sound very plain, but i want you to understand it is true and real in every sense. i think these things sound cliche because they are true ... but i will give you my inner mantras... like knowing who you are and always sticking to it. society, friends, family, etc. are ready to judge and tell you what you should do, but believing in yourself even when no one else does really helps. being realistic with yourself about your skills and if you can upgrade them, constantly seeking ways to do that. and then the most important thing is to be persistent. don't give up. i wake up everyday with a fire to not only live a full life, but to chase down my inner dreams and goals. it's not always fun and easy and there are going to be times when you get stressed, but you have to fight through it. to dream and chase it is a huge journey many don't even embark on, they keep it inside. so whatever yours is, just working towards it is a good path to start on. you've said what you want .. so now go get it!! it's out there and it's permanent. like really, work on it. everyday. i wish you nothing but success and happiness, don't give up on the tough days if you really believe though. my toughest decisions and stuff have always paid off. always.
