Essence Mag and New Shows

Hey there! Well, I've taken a teeny comment moderation break from the blog just to relax a bit after coming off a teeny road trip, to take time to develop some recipes AND to play my favorite video game, the newest edition of God of War. Childish yes, but I waited in line at midnight to get my copy and I've been battling mythological figures for days! In the meantime, the interview and contribution I told you about with Essence Magazine is out!
This is the issue and it's on stands now! Look at hot Avatar star, Zoe Saldana! It's the April issue and I offer some of my tricks and recipes for a great Easter meal. Catch me on the contributor page early on where this blog gets some love (yaaaaaaay!) and then flip all the way to the back starting on page 170 to catch the action. What a neat thing to be in such an iconic magazine, I can't tell you how neat it feels.

More happy news ... the Cooking for Real shows I just taped a month ago are now being rolled out beginning this Saturday on Food Network! That's a fast turnaround time, eh? Those guys and gals at the network really hustle and there are plenty of unsung heroes. I can't wait for you to get the new recipes and some of the stories behind them. This week's newest episode is called Say Hello to Easy Flavor. When I say easy, I mean really easy ... There's my Easy Grilled Honey-Dijon Chicken recipe that I hate to even call a recipe because it's so simple, some Tangy Tater Salad and for dessert my dense and not too sweet Black Forest Cupcakes. Hope you like the new shows, looks like they are running every Saturday until they run out. A quick check of my full episode guide online and you can see, as soon as the show is done and edited ... it gets added to the list. This is a perfect time to say again, thanks so much for your support. I couldn't ask for better comany with such cool foodies. I've run into so many people in the streets of Brooklyn and Manhattan and to see how friendly and cool you guys are is great! My kinda people! Thanks for watching and thanks for the support!!

Okay ...
Saturday March 20th @ 12 noon, The new season of Cooking for Real!

Hey Sunny!!!! I haven't been here (your site) in a while, but it's always refreshing to hear your insight and share in your journey :-) I'm looking forward to trying the Easter recipes. I've been so impressed with your brining technique from the show (I've told all my friends about it). I know the new recipes will be a hit. Love the show! Love you more!!! You have a GREAT spirit and I appreciate the way you're so open with your viewers/readers. Okay, this is long :-) I'll be sure to catch up on all that I've missed and I can't wait to DVR the new episodes of "Cooking for Real" Oh! One more thing, on "The Best Thing I've ever Ate" when you got emotional about the food, I really connected to you. My mom is a wonderful cook who sometimes made marvelous meals out of whatever was left in the pantry. Take Care Sunny!!! Be blessed :-)

You deserve a break!!! I’m glad you’re enjoying your fave video game! This past weekend our PS3 died…we got the Yellow Light of Death. But we found someone that knew how to fix it so we’re all good now! And we got to keep our original PS3!! Have you checked out the game “Heavy Rain” yet? If not, don’t sleep on this game. It’s amazing!

Can’t wait to check out your new episodes!!! I’ll be watching at Noon on Saturday for sure. I’m looking forward to seeing some new recipes that I can add to my list to try!! And I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for the episode with the popovers!! Mmmmm!

And yes, definitely let me know when you’ll be in Philly! I’d love to meet up for a drink, cheesesteak, whatever!

Like you need to explain yourself, nay nay! Recognize. Any good doctor will tell you that a person NEEDS to take a full day to unwind and in that day to do something they are either passionate about or have a big interest in. Either way, a person needs to unplug from the norm to give the brain a proper distraction. My faves come from sigma team games, by the way. Let the beatings begin, high-res recognize!

I would also add a heavy dose of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, as I personally endorse its benefits.

Last but not least, congrats on the Essence I&C!

chanell, welcome back! glad you are a brining convert lol ... it makes thing taste waaaay better, especially chicken imho. glad you caught best thing i ever ate. i sat there in that interview and cried my eyes out over food and at first i was embarrassed, but then i remembered i was in a room full of foodies. so it was ok. things like that i can't stop, when the emotion hits, i just let it pour. food is like a picture, brings back so many memories!!! hope you like the shows this sat!!!

jen, thnx. i mean i gotta tell ya, i worked more in radio, but in this job i'm working harder. more days off, but the days on are intense. my guy at game stop store had his original ps3 die on him just a day after god of war came out, so he's been hurting. cool thing is, there seems to be a network of smart people that know how to fix it, so his is getting the same fix yours did. makes me feel good because if mine dies, i know there's help! i'll check out heavy rain, but i'm waiting on the red dead game to come out. did you ever play rainbow 6 vegas?? lots of fun. alright, hope you like the new eps and the next time i visit philly, i'll make it known so we can catch up if the schedules work.

complaint dept. mgr., ahhhhhhh leave it to you to make me feel normal and ok. you are a blogsend ... like that word? lol. look, the firsst draft of the blog ommitted the video game info and i thought, why lie? i have been engrossed in it for days!!! and my choc chip cookie dough is poppycock and babybel cheese wheels lol. thanks for always lending a smile over here :-). hope you pick up and essence mag, or do you subscribe? teeheehee ...

mise en place, i know. the cupcakes were callin my name, but i didn't answer lol. hope you like the new episode!!! i can't believe they pulled them together so fast! they really work hard up there. alright, hope you catch the mag!!!

My fiance has Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2! He loves that game. I tried playing it once, but I'm not coordinated enough! So I just watch :)

jen, i'm jealous ... i only have #2 and i keep waiting on someone to turn in #1 at my local store. i know i can buy it online, but i like doin biz in the store. the only time i get to talk to gamers lol. hey, try changing the control views to "inverted" for that game, it will help you aim better. i always have to because maybe i'm a lefty? i dunno, but i like it when you push the L forward, the camera looks down and vice versa ... more like the natural human head function. so give that a try and you guys can split screen on the game and play together! about watching ... that's what my guy does when i play god of war cuz it's a one player. i won't let him play until i beat the game, i give it a few more days and i'm done. i still have work to do lol. i have a biz mtg today, but right when i get home, it's make dinner, eat, then play!!

Hey there Sunny!
I'm thrilled about the Essence spread and I know this is just a drop in the bucket for what awaits you. I love Zoe but they could have put you on the front and it would have sold just as many if not more! I've got you and my other folks (The Neelys, Paula and Sandra Lee) set to record so I won't miss a thing but you're my favorite. I'm gonna get my copy of the mag today!!! :)
I tried the recipe for the bread pudding on B.T.I.E.A. (actually I instructed our sons on how to make it) and it was delish. You were right, something so simple--fruit cocktail...really made it special. Who knew???

Keep on doin yo thang!

Love,
Linda (B'ham)

linda, i am excited too, i just totally can't believe it! i grew up reading it, totally iconic to me. and thanks for the compliment, but star of the highest grossing film ever, totally trumps my home cookin' self! i'm sure they made the right choice teeheehee, but the vote of confidence is sweet :-). hope you like the recipes in the mag! and omg, the bread pudding!!! so yummy. the sauce is sooooo wrong, but right! i think next to the pear bite, i like the cherry bite in re: to the fruit cocktail surprises. thanks for the smiles linda!

Watching you now! Can't wait to make that potato salad for my next Spring/Summer extravaganza. My friends are probably sick of your red cabbage slaw (I'm not!)

Having played the first two, you're totally forgiven for GOW3.

Sunny Anderson said...

eric, dude ... i've had gow3 on pre-order since early last year and that's only because the pre-order slip i had from 06 got lost and the account went dormant, so i lost $5. the crazy thing is somehow i didn't know there was a collector's set to buy, so that night as i got my little game, others got the box set. i called the store for 2 days hoping someone would not pick theirs up and get lucky. i did! so now i have pandora's box!! yaaaay! i'm almost done with the game now, 15hours in. graphics are the best i've ever seen.

brian whisenant, the tangy tater salad is really one of my faves. the jalapenos and bacon do it for me! i also eat the salad cold on the second day. it's like a chip, i go in for a bite from the fridge and find myself cuddling with the container on the couch lol. hope you like it and hope your friends like the red cabbage slaw's replacement! ;-) thanks for watching the new season debut!! this week ... eeeeasy mussels!

t2ed, yaaaay! not only foodie friendly, but you guys are gamer friendly too! i was a bit embarrassed to just say it in such a permanent way, but i love playing video games. love. i don't think i'll out grow it. they keep just getting better. i mean i remember entering video game commands into my commodore computer from old programming magazines. those were the days ... i sound old eh? teeheehee ...

OMG! Sunny you are hilarious!! I had a Vic 20 and used to spend hours typing games into it from Compute Gazette magazine! Too funny! I also just got GoW3 and hubby and I are finishing up Uncharted 2. All in moderation. Just make sure you keep on cookin' - we'd be lost without your smiling face on Saturday mornings.

Keep up your good work - looking forward to the new season!

Cheers!
